Small and Happy's Disney princess tag

So I thought it was high time for another tag! I saw this floating around a few blogs and knew I had to do it for myself :)

1) Which Princess do you like the least?
Probably Merida, only because I haven't seen Brave (bad I know!)

2) Which Princess do you adore most?
Jasmine all the way! That hair, those clothes, the sass, I could go on!

3) Which Princess do you relate too most?
Belle. I'm stubborn, a brunette, outspoken and I love reading!

4) Which sidekick do you wish you had?
Raja, because IT'S A TIGER.

5) Which best friend(s) would you like to hang out with?
Olaf and Lumiere, they're both fun and quirky.

6) Which Prince would love you?
Aladdin, or Eric or Flynn! I'm not picky, Disney makes them well!

7) Which parents would raise you?
The three fairies from Sleeping Beauty!

8) Which Castle do you want to live in?
Any, a castle is a castle and I want one please.

9) Which dress do you wish to own?
Belle's, it is just perfection. I also love Cinderella's (what a classic)

10) Which voice do you wish you had?
Jasmine's, it's sultry and exotic and womanly.

11) Which two Princesses would be best friends?
I think Mulan and Rapunzel would be pretty fun together!

12) Which two Princesses do you think would hate one another?
I think maybe Pocahontas and the Frozen girls, I can't see them having anything in common!

13) Which two sidekicks would make a good duo?
Pascal and Olaf could have some funny exchanges and jokes I can imagine.

14) Which two Princes would be best buds?
Oh I love the idea of a world where Aladdin and Flynn are friends!

15) Which scene makes you cry?
When Ariel says bye to her father when she's getting married or when John Smth sails off in Pocahontas. Every. Damn. Time.

16) What scene makes you cheer?
When Rapunzel stands up to her mother!

17) Which movie is your favourite soundtrack?
The Little Mermaid!! Love eye emoji.

18) Which scene makes you cringe the most?
None that I can think of, you can't cringe when it's Disney!

19) Which story do you wish was your life?
I wouldn’t mind being a mermaid. Read-I'd love it!

20) Which movie do you love the most?
Aladdin, Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast are the shit for me, love them all with a passion. Big shout out to Pocahontas too!

Have you done any Disney tags that I should have a look at? I'm obsessed with them!

Small and Happy's Valentine's snapshots!

So this Valentine's weekend we popped on down to London to see some family and just do a little shopping and what not.

It's always nice to go but always nice to leave and get back to the normal prices of the north!

We don't usually make a big deal of Valentine's in terms of gifts (as in any!) however since we had four years of long distance we are used to using Valentine's to make sometime together and do something special! So even now we see each other all the time every day we still like to take the chance to do something a little different and solely about the two of us!

Anyway, here's a few snapshots of our short time there :)

Some beautiful tulips in a lovely corner shop. My only flowers of the weekend ha!

Got to pop and see good old Billy Shakespeare while you're in town. Made me want to watch Shakespeare in Love as always!

No trip is ever complete without a visit to the Disney store, especially when they have the country specific toys. These regal Minnies were too cute!

Isn't this to die for? It was all illustrated inside, my powers of willpower were strongly tested here!

I did pick up an adorable souvenir in the form of this Moomins magnet, so cute!

I love these untranslatable words from other countries so I was thrilled to see that they have a book version, an excellent coffee table addition...if I was the kind of person that had coffee table books. One day!

And here we all are, me, my boyfriend, his sister and her boyfriend, the next generation!

Oh and don't forget me! Okay then, I also made anther friend in the form of this adorable bunny in the Disney shop from the upcoming Zootopia! Very excited for this, if you haven't heard of it. Watch the trailer!

How was everyone else's Valentine's/Galentines day?!

Small and 10 happy things! #15

I must admit I am rather enjoying my weekends as of late. Usually the life of a teacher, while lending to lots of holiday time, actually means that your weekend time is often nonexistent. From planning to marking to general prep/stress, I can find it hard to switch off.

However...

Recently I have been carving out time to go to my local yoga class first thing Saturday morning and this has massively helped me in keeping a state of peace and relaxation and motivation throughout the weekend. So here's what I've been loving this week!

1. Treating myself to a nice bunch of flowers. It's been a year since we moved in so we decided to spruce up the place with a nice bouquet.

2. Going to see Everest at the cinema. What a tense couple of hours!!

3. Being at home with my mum and sister. Lots of lovely cooking and big catch ups!

4. The new Starbucks Autumn cups, how gorgeous are these?! Filled with a nice chai tea, it was the epitome of the season.

5. The beautiful Minnie Mouse notebook my sister brought me back from Disneyland Paris. Going straight on my desk!

6. Waking up early and watching Parent Trap. My sister and I got up super early this morning and hurried downstairs with blankets and tea and delicious, coconutty porridge to cuddle up and watch our FAVOURITE sister bonding film. It brings smiles and tears to our faces and eyes everything time and it's a tradition to watch it together at least once a year.

7. Gogglebox. Just because it's back and it's awesome.

8. A lovely drive over the Pennines. Yes, the snake pass sucks big time but you can't beat the beautiful views on that Sheffield to Manchester drive.

9. A midweek visit from my Grandma. Is there anything better than a visit from one of your faves? I don't think so.

10. My first EVER experience of a Lush bath bomb! It was the Frozen one for anyone who's interested and it was magical and sparkly and everything I dreamed it would be!

You see? I even lit myself a couple of candles, totally taking this self care thing mega serious.

So what's made you smile this week? Can you believe it's almost October time? That means Halloween fun is a coming!

Okay maybe not just yet, sorry, getting too keen!

Small and happy's Disney Friday!

Happy weekend one and all!

Today's picture is from the Disney store in Rome!

I'm off there on Sunday and shall be making this one of my key stops alongside the colosseum and Vatican! I love the Roman theme and I'm very excited to see the merchandise. I wonder if Italy has been hit with Frozen fever too!

What are you up to this weekend? Have you ever been to Rome before? If you have, any tips?!

Have a gorgeous weekend whatever you do,

Lots of love,

Sophia :)

Small and happy's top 5 childhood tv shows!

My top 5 childhood tv shows!

I got thinking the other day about my favourite shows from when I was younger. The kind of shows that when I rewatch them now they remind me of so many happy times when I was younger and still bring me joy today. I love with the power of youtube we can still enjoy our old favourites. From watching videos like Pokemon and the like and seeing the thousands of views I know I'm not the only one who loves revisiting childhood shows so I thought I'd try and list my top 5 and ask you what all of your faves were!

1// Sailor Moon

I absolutely loved this show. My sister and I used to set alarms to catch this in the half term break because that was the only time they showed it! If you haven't heard of this it's an anime show about these girls who all have secret alter egos that fight crime. They each represent a planet, Sailor Venus, Sailor Mars etc and they all come together to fight the forces of evil. They are led by Sailor Moon whose real life persona is Serena and she is the clumsiest, whingiest (yes I know this is not a word) girl ever! So it makes for some hilarity along the way. There's also romance, adorable cats and some gorgeous animation. I haven't ventured far into the world of anime but if it's all as amazing as this I'm missing out! So any recommendations let me know!

2//Pokemon

Obsessed doesn't cover it. When I young and the Pokemon craze first hit I had the cards, the books, watched the show, played the games, everything. It's hard to remember now just how into it all I (and the whole world!) was. But I seriously loved following Ash and his pals and loved learning about all the different Pokemon and their evolutions etc. I also loved his friend Misty and her water Pokemon and pre teen Sophia also had a little soft spot for Brock, this May or not may have been a little crush..I was too young to be sure!

3// Sabrina the Teenage Witch

I still totally watch this now all the time. I think every girl out there wants to be a witch no? Before I dreamt of being Hermione, it was Sabrina's life I wanted. Living with two fun aunts, in a lovely, old house, magical powers and a nice selection of hot boyfriends and quirky friends. Harvey, Josh, Harvey, Josh, I definitely torn for a while! Plus, whenever she used to just point her finger and change her outfit or where she was that was pretty much the coolest thing ever. I just loved the humour and the fun of this show and I thought Melissa Joan Hart was the bees knees!

4//Two of a Kind

My Mary-Kate and Ashley obsession has been long lasting and this short lived show (only one season was made?!) was one of my favourites growing up and I still watch reruns whenever I can find them on youtube or the like! It follows the Olsens when they're about 10 years olds and their antics with their college professor, kind of uptight Dad and their carefree, young nanny. Even when watching the show as an adult I genuinely find it funny and the humour is a lot sharper (and more adult in some places!) than a lot of 'kids shows'. I really enjoyed this as a child like all of their other tv shows and movies. I just wanted to be an Olsen, okay?!

5//Lizzie McGuire

Oh Lizzie. A girl after my own heart. I thought this show was so original. I loved the cartoon Lizzie that just blurted out everything she was feeling, I think we all need one of those when we're teenagers! I loved watching this as I was nearing my teen years and watching her navigate friend, family and boy problems was a real help to me. The episode where she goes bra shopping anyone?! Disney used to really address some important issues in a sensible, helpful and always heart warming and funny way and I feel so lucky to have been in my generation to enjoy it at its best! I also loved hers and Gordo's relationship, I remember chatting for hours with my besties about the latest developments in their friendship! Aaah the early days of shipping!

So those were some of my favourite tv shows when I was growing up. To be honest the beauty of these is that I could watch any of them now and still enjoy them, and I do! What were your favourite shows? Do you still watch shows from your childhood now?

Lots of love

Small, happy and rounding up #fabulousfebruary

Another month done! I knew February was going to a short one but this just takes the biscuit!

I hope your February was lovely and filled with lots of fun, happy things! Here are a few of the highlights I was lucky enough to have in #fabulousfebruary:

*One of my best uni friends coming to stay with me. It was so, so lovely to catch up and spend some time together. We went shopping, to the cinema and spent far too much in the Selfridges food hall! Doesn't everyone need raspberry balsamic vinegar?!

*Catching up with my fellow teacher pals. A lovely lunch together with some delicious healthy food. We spent the whole time chatting and getting excited for Charlotte's hen do in May!

*A nice little Disney afternoon. I had some time to myself to watch Beauty and the Beast while doing some work. This wasn't exactly a huge, special day or anything but taking some me time was a real highlight of a really busy month!

*Time at home in Sheffield, making pancakes and hanging out! It was really fab to get some time at home and making my sister some healthier pancakes was a really fun activity and it was great to do something different together. Anything we do together is just so fun and I treasure my time with her so much.

*A snap of the gorgeous, healthy lunch I had with my friends. That's squash not wine by the way, yes we're that sensible! But when the hen do comes that'll be a different story I am sure...

*Photobooth fun at All Star Lanes in Manchester. Still happy to kiss him even though he completely whooped my behind at bowling!

*The adorable Valentine's card boyfriend gave me. I love Daisy Duck (she's my absolutely favourite!) and knowing that he thought this was the perfect card and it was.

*An amazing card I spotted in the Trafford centre, IT HAS MY NAME ON! This never happens! I didn't buy it obviously because well, who buys their own birthday cards?!

*Victoria's Secret splurges. The wishlist continues to grow...

*Seeing The Lion King! It was amazing! It already feels like months ago but it was such a vibrant, exciting show and it only served to strengthen my Disney obsession!!

*Delicious froyo. Just because a month that has froyo in, is a wonderful, wonderful month!

So those were just a few things that made February a lovely month! What were some of your highlights? Let me know!

Sophia :)

Small and happy's Disney Friday!

Happy Friday! The last Friday in February too!

For today's Disney Friday it's just a little reminder from Elsa...if you've had anything annoying or frustrating happen this week, just (you know what's coming..) LET IT GOOOO! Whatever's been and gone this week is just that, gone, so it's time to start getting excited for the weekend break!

Crank up some of your favourite music when you get home tonight and just have a dance around and shake everything off because it's the weekend and you work hard and we deserve some fun!

I've actually had a really good week but I'm still going to be pumping out the pop tunes when I get home tonight. I might even throw in some Disney...

How do you celebrate it being a Friday?

Any instant happy songs that you play?

Sophia :)

Small and 10 happy things! #6

Well, I feel like this will be one of the quickest and easiest happy things feature I'll write this year. There's one reason for that and one reason only. The two glorious words to anyone working in education: half term.

As much as I usually like time off to be full of relaxing and watching tv I have been super busy and have been the world's biggest social butterfly this week! All this talking and catching up is probably why I am now again suffering from a sore throat this cosy Saturday. #cantshutmeup

So here we go, my ten happy things this week!

1// Being at home at the start of this week in Sheffield with my Mum and sister. My sister is going through a bit of a rough time this week so while it's not easy for me it made her feel better having me there and it was lovely to enjoy a few home comforts :)

2// Catching up with my teacher friends. On Monday I drove (well was driven!) over to Wakefield to catch up with some of my besties from my PGCE (teacher training) last year. We all took food and we we met at my friend's new house. As in brand new and her own! Mortgages people, this life is getting scary! Anyway, I got there and my friend's beautiful house and stunning kitchen was smelling of lovely roasted veg and sweet potato wedges. Everyone brought a lovely selection of fresh and healthy food and filled ourselves with squash and shared the highs and lows of our working lives! It's so nice to share with people who understand you but also who you have so much else in common with. It's almost as if teaching is how we met but our common interests and silly senses of humour have brought us so close together in a way I never expected when I started the course two years again. Funny what (and who!) life can bring you isn't it?

3// Having a beautiful and relaxing massage, mid week! I've already spoken about this on here but I firmly believe that I need to incorporate weekly massages into my life! Perhaps if I had Hermione's time turner I could just make it happen!

4// Going to see The Lion King at the Palace theatre in Manchester. Again, I've rounded this up already but this was certainly a highlight of the month let alone the week! I love the theatre and I hope to go much more often in the coming months and explore Manchester's thriving theatre scene.

5// Having a lovely catch up with my uni friends. On Thursday evening I was visited by three of my best friends from my time at the University of Liverpool. We went to Hale (read-posh part of Cheshire) and broke the bank dining at the Michelin starred, impossible get into, restaurant du jour. Lol jk, we went to Pizza Express but it was the fanciest Pizza Express I've ever been to and the service was absolutely outstanding!

6// One of those best uni friends staying with me. Leanne, one of the lovely ladies I used to live with at uni, stayed with me for a couple of nights this week. It was so nice to see that even though years have passed we findeach other's company still just as fun and easy as ever. That's what great, true friends are isn't it? Where you can just be completely, 100% yourself and you don't need to think about what you're saying. You just get each other.

7// Having a very rare splurge at the Trafford centre! On Friday I took Leanne on her very first trip to a Victoria's Secret store (come on Northern Ireland, catch up!) We were helped by a lovely sales assistant who helped us (such an enabler!) spend faaaar too much money in store. I came away with two lovely bras and a seriously long wishlist. All I can say is thank God the Trafford centre is a 50 minute bus ride away!

8// A lovely Saturday where I could just catch up on tv and chill out. Those days are rare so I need to grab it with both hands!

9// Great British Bake Off. I loved this week's again, it's becoming a lovely mid week pick me up. Who doesn't want a bit of Mary and Paul injected into their Wednesday? Fabulously English stuff and my girl crush on Abbey Clancy has definitely grown from this week's offering!

10// A mega sleep last night. It's been such a crazy, busy half term and I feel like it's all taken it out of me a little bit so on Saturday night we hit the hay at literally half 9 and I didn't wake up until 8. If you know me well you'll know that 6.45 is a low in so this was no mean feat! I am a still a very sleepy sausage but I am thinking of a Harry Potter film and maybe a nap?! This girl's sleeping patterns are getting a little bit cray right now. Maybe the teenage years are finally kicking in!

So that's been my week, and what a hectic, jam packed one indeed! How was yours? What did you get up to? Let me know! Last week of #fabulousfebruary next week, actually can't believe that!

Chat soon lovelies!

Small and happy's Disney Friday!

Hello lovelies!

A nice little romantic Disney Friday picture this week seeing as we are on the cusp of Valentine's weekend. Plus I adore Donald and Daisy so anything that includes them is a-Okay by me!

It's Friday! Have we all had good weeks? Mine has been a bit crazy to say the least, it's assessment week in school so it's been a lot of marking, looking at data and late nights! But as of 3.15 today I will be done! Lol jk, the kids will be done..I will be filing and marking and planning until boyfriend picks me up at 6!

I am still very grateful for this break though as I know it is a unique one to my profession so I am grabbing this opportunity with both hands (and feet, and everything else!)

I am currently drafting this at just gone 6am having been up since 5.30. Why you may ask?! Well boyfriend is away and I've had to be home alone in the flat for the first time. I like to think I am a well put together adult but truth is I did not like the idea of sleeping alone. Also as we use his alarm (I always, always sleep with my phone off) I was panicking I wouldn't get up! So my body did that usual thing of knowing you need to get up so you wake up incredibly early! Anyone else ever do that?

Anyway, none of that will bring my mood down because it is Friday and I can't wait  to start the day, smash it and enjoy the weekend!! #pumped #deliriouslytired

What are you up to? Any special Valentine's plans for the weekend? Are you envisaging a crazy Friday 13th?! What's been the highlight of your week?

Sophia x

Small and Happy's Disney Friday!

Happy Friday! I feel like this photo completely sums up my excitement for the weekend!

Don't you just love the fireworks at Disney? They're so magical. Usually I get a bit tired of fireworks but I feel like at the end of a magical day with all the music and the characters interspersed in the display Disney's fireworks makes for a perfect end to any day. I don't have them today so I'll just have to pretend with the help of this beautiful picture! Nevertheless, I am still feeling very joyful and happy to be saying hello to Friday once more :)

It's our first Friday in February too, can you believe it?! It's completely flown by and I am finally feeling better! Also the mornings are getting lighter too and it really feels like Spring is on the way. I am looking forward to catching up with some serious sleep and going bowling on Sunday! Yes, total big kid here! I am already preparing for my inner competitive nature (demon!) to be unleashed!

What are you up to this weekend? Any fun plans?

Sophia x

Small and happy's Disney Friday!

This week I have to share the beautiful Ariel for my Disney Friday purely because for the majority of the week I have been feeling her pain as I have had literally no voice! I'm still husky now but I'm hopeful that a weekend of resting my voice(ish) will help!

As you can imagine in the my line of work your voice is pretty invaluable so I have been struggling I will admit!

Anyway, the final week of January is done! This means I will be needing to do a joyful January round up pretty soon. Can't believe how the time's flown. Roll on Spring and lighter days I say!

So for Disney Friday today I am asking, do you like Ariel? I personally do, if not for hair reasons alone! But she gets a lot of hate I find from these mega Disney fans, people saying she threw her life away and changed everything for a man and all that and I get it! However, she already wanted the human life or a least a taste of it and surely Eric was just another reason why she was so desperate to explore that world?

I think people who debate this on tumblr and what not get a bit too into it and I say it's a kids' film I wouldn't look to a mermaid as a benchmark for perfect life choices but what do you think? Is she a favourite or least favourite princess of yours? Who do you like best? My personal fave is Jasmine, can't see that changing anytime soon!

Happy FriYAY!!

Sophia :) xxx

Small, happy and going Into The Woods.

Well, another day and another cinema trip so it may seem! Twice in one week!  I don't think this has ever happened before..  First up was the incredible and brilliant sob fest that was The Theory of Everything (check out my review here) and yesterday I popped to my local vue to see Disney's Into the Woods.

Now before I dive in, I literally mean 'popped in', I can't stress how near my cinema is when I say it is local.  Literally five minutes away.  I've never lived so close to one before and I feel like I'm really going to start going more.  I always say this because I love films and I don't think anything offers such escapism as going to the cinema (apart from books maybe but even then you can get disturbed!) but now given that I can get there quicker than it takes my kettle to boil I have no excuse!

So, the movie.  Well firstly, Disney distributing it was a massive misleader for the average cinema goer.  I knew going in what to expect but there were many, many little girls in princess dresses in there with us and I bet they (and their parents) were not expecting a 2 and a half hour long dark musical about how happily ever after doesn't always turn out the way you hoped!  The poor children.

However, as an adult who knows that life isn't always rosy I could appreciate the movie for what it was: an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's dark musical following the interlocking stories of some of our favourite fairy tale characters including Cinderella, the Baker and his wife (a wonderful James Corden, the baker not the wife, obvs), Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk.  All familiar characters yes, but the stories?  Not so much..

The songs are great on the whole, if you're into that I'm singing what I'm saying type of thing, (think Rent) and all the cast all had fantastic voices.  I suppose it helps that the songs were precorded unlike the raw, live vocals used in the recent adaptation of Les Mis. It's also enchanting, funny and unpredictable, which is certainly a nice surprise when dealing with fairytales!  However, having said that, the second act did go on a bit longer than it needed to, I think 40 minutes easily could have been cut and it wouldn't have harmed the film at all.  I suppose that's the difference when you see a musical on stage, they never feel long!  To me anyway, although I guess maybe I've been lucky to only see ones I have enjoyed.

You can't deny the film is filled with stars, Meryl Streep, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt, James Corden (the list goes on!) and while there were so many great people in this film that was part of its problem for me.  There were certain storylines I wanted more of like Johnny Depp as the Wolf who was barely used which was a shame (I believe most people would agree with me there!) Despite this, it was wonderful to see so much of Meryl (a goddess among us) and James Corden had a much larger part than I anticipated so that was a lovely surprise.

Overall, if you like musicals and fairytales and are looking for something dark and gothic and different I would definitely recommend seeing this.  If this type of movie is not your thing usually don't go expecting to be converted to all singing all dancing way of life.  This is not the musical to do that.  However, if you're fan of the genre already, go on!  Head Into the Woods, I'd love to hear what you think of it!

Hmm, I wonder what movie next...American Sniper perhaps?  Anyone seen that?  What have you seen at the cinema recently?  Anything to recommend?

Small and happy's Disney Friday!

Yay, it's Friday!! Have a magical day and weekend! :) I feel like Rapunzel does in this photo, happy and joyful!

Having slight hair envy though....

Small and happy's Disney Friday!

Happy Friday first of all! would also like to say thank you Tesco for topping off a lovely week with these beautiful recyclable shopper bags!

I feel like everyone would be happier if they carried their shopping in one of these babies don't you?

How have all your weeks been? Mine has been good but busssyyyyyy though it does feel like January is flying!

What are you up to this weekend? I for one feel like a Disney movie this weekend. Aladdin was on tv last week and it really got me in the mood again for a proper Disney binge! I'm thinking maybe Little mermaid or even going down the Pixar route with Wall E. I watched it for the first time over Christmas and was blown away,it was beautiful!

Anyone else only just gotten round to seeing certain Disney movies? Is there anyone out there who's still not seen Frozen? Do you have a favourite underrated Disney movie?

Okay, I'm going stop now but when it comes to this topic I can just keep harping on and on and on ha!

Lots of love, happy FriYAY!

Sophia x

Small and happy's Disney Friday!

Another Disney Friday and another Disney tag, I'm really running out of them, I might have to start inventing my own, which I would actually enjoy faaaaar too much.  So watch this space haha!

1. A scene in any Disney movie you wish you could experience.

It's got to be flying on a magic carpet with Aladdin and seeing the world! That would just be unbelievable and the hot company wouldn't hurt either! If perving on cartoon men offends you by the way, stop reading now!

2. An unforgettable moment you've had at one of the Disney parks.

I think watching the fireworks at Disneyland Paris this year with my boyfriend. Finally being able to share the Disney love and excitement with him was just magical and it was a perfect end to a perfect day!

3. What non-Disney songs reminds you or brings back memories of Disney and/or the parks?

Hmm, I can't think of any non Disney songs off the top of my head but I guess any happy song makes me feel happy which makes me think Disneeeeeeeyyy!

4. When was the first time you went to a Disney park?

When I was about 7/8 I went with my family to Disneyland Paris. I don't remember much about it apart from loving it and getting wet from a lot of rain!
5. If you could be best friends with any of the Disney characters who would it be?

It would have to be Belle I think because I would just love to be able to  talk about books all day! Also I've always loved Daisy Duck and she seems like a lot of fun so I'd love to hang out with her too.

6. Who are your favourite Disney princesses?

Jasmine, all the way. She's beautiful, sassy, intelligent and speaks her mind. A total fierce chica.

7. Name a scene/moment in a Disney movie that never fails to make you cry.
Mufasa. Simba. Nothing more to say without all the tears.  It's the part where Simba sees Mufasa and he tells him he's forgotten about him and doesn't know who he is anymore that gets me, possibly even more than the dreaded stampede!

8. What is the first Disney movie you remember seeing?

Probably Snow White, what a classic!  I remember being completely in awe throughout the whole thing.  Even now, it's so good to rewatch it and think how wonderful it is even today.

9. What is your favourite Disney movie?

It's got to be Aladdin.  The songs, the music, the characters, the love story, Robin Williams, it's just brilliant!  I'm watching it now actually so that says something!

10. Share a video or image that shows your love of Disney.

Here I am, May 2014, ears and smile both fully on and all totally loving life in Disneyland Paris!  Take me back please... Hands down one of the best days of the year, maybe even my life, yeah..I went there.

How's everyone finding 2015 so far, I know it's early days but I'm saying so far so good!  I'm attempting to do some lesson plans and then I'm going to watch Sound of Music on BBC1 and cry a million times over Edelweiss...it's my festive tradition!!

Have you done any Disney tags?  If you have please link me, I'd love to read them!

Small and happy's Disney Friday. TOP 5 FILMS.

So, after my second week in my new job I am happy, feeling rewarded and exhausted and about a a million other emotions. Kind of goes hand in hand with teaching I suppose. But anyway, because of my silly busy-ness I haven't done a Disney Friday for a while. I've had this in my drafts for too long but kept holding it back because I couldn't agree with myself on what my favourite of Disney's animations are! But here are the top 5 as they stand (right now!):

The Lion King

This is just classic on so many levels. I really feel like the music in this film puts the movie on another level. Every single song is fantastic, catchy and beautifully animated. Not only this but the story (based on Hamlet, so extra cultural points there!) is brilliant and manages to be both hilarious and uplifting as well as incredibly moving and at points just down right distressing (anyone over Mufasa yet?!)

The characters are great. Zazu ( a hilarious Rowan Atkinson) and Scar (possibly the best villain in a Disney movie?) are just two stand outs for me.

This is a timeless classic and is a true example of Disney at its toe tapping, emotional, magical best.

The Little Mermaid

I'm going to say the most stereotypical thing ever as a girl and admit and I love mermaids ( I also love the colour pink so there you go!) Like any girl watching Ariel swim around with that amazing hair and her awesome shell bikini I was addicted hook, line and sinker. Like the nautical references? I was quite impressed myself. Anyway, as an adult I still love this film. Sebastian is an adorable ray of sunshine. I love the musical sequences, especially Part of your world and Kiss the girl and I always always tear up when her dad turns her into a human. Plus a Prince Eric is definitely one of the best (read 'hottest') Disney princes, for sure.

I just love this film so much I can rewatch it and rewatch it, while Ariel is not my favourite princess there's a lot of top characters in this and it's just a lovely, sweet story.

Tangled

A more modern classic. When I saw this in 3d at the cinema (completely worth it!) I fell in love instantly. I couldn't believe that Disney could still produce the kind of films I loved as a child and I feel so lucky that I am still able to see these films be released and see such good quality. Rapunzel is a princess for our times in terms of her spunky, independent nature.  As well as this, the humour, the music and the characters feel modern and current and yet the old Disney magic is still there. All that combined makes this one of my absolute favourites.

Aladdin

I will never stop loving this movie! I will love Aladdin forever. Thanks to the fantastic Robin Williams it's definitely the funniest Disney movie (totally my own opinion obvs) and the songs and the story is fabulous.  It's just got everything I want from Disney and on top of this the movie has my favourite princess.  I love Jasmine, she is so bad ass and beautiful and has the rare gift of being able to rock harem trousers and makes her own choices like a boss. It is a classic underdog story with a good boy done good, and what Brit doesn't love that?

Frozen

I feel like Frozen has had a slightly delayed surge of popularity. It seems to be even more popular now than when it first came out and I for one can't quite understand how that can be?! I am proud to say that I was a mega fan from the start! For personal reasons, I think it's the fact that the main crux of the story is all about the love between two sisters and I am extremely close to my own that makes me love it :)  The whole Scandinavian style and animation is all beautiful and I just love this movie for being so adorable and more importantly for always reminding me to just LET IT GOOOOOO!

Ahem.

Now I've regained control and have stopped singing (somewhat) I'd like to hear your favourites!  Are you an oldies but goldies lover or do you love the newbie Disney offerings more? It must be said this was a very difficult decision as a I love Beauty and the Beast and many others, however I purely went off the ones I love to watch again and again.  It's never easy when it comes to Disney!

Happy weekends all :)

Small and Happy's slightly belated Disney Friday! #3

 source

Firstly, I am sorry this is late, it's been a crazy week and I'm onto a busy weekend (Manchester Christmas markets, HUNGER GAMES AAAH) so I thought I needed to crack this post out before Friday is just a distant memory...

So for today's Disney Friday I'm sharing the trailer (enjoy it here) for the Big Mouse's new live action version of the classic Cinderella.  The new film set for release in 2015 stars Richard Madden aka the King of the North aka the beautiful Robb Stark, Cate Blanchett and Downton Abbey's Lily James as the titular role. I hope no one laughed at the first part of that word....we are all adults here, I hope!

So I want to know, what do you think? I must admit, I do love it and am excited for it for all the same reasons I loved the story as a child: the magic, the fairy godmother, the handsome prince, THE DRESS, so in terms of achieving all of that it looks like it's onto a winner.

But what do you think of live action versions of the animated classics? Are you for or against them? I personally would love to see a live action Aladdin although I do think The Lion King might be slightly harder to pull off (very funny, I know...)

So let me know, are you excited by this at all? Or are you dying for something more original?

Small and Happy's Disney Friday! #2

Pictures taken from ones pinned on my Pinterest board.

Another week has flown by! I cannot believe it's already time for this post again but hi ho there we go (bit of Snow White there!)

Anyway, I thought with this series I'd try and encourage a bit of discussion as well, Disney themed obvs. Sorry I can't help it! I need Disney fanatics to step up here.

So anyway, my first question in this topic:

What nationalities would you like to see represented in newer Disney films?

For example, we have had China, Scandinavia and Scotland covered albeit briefly in Mulan, Frozen and Brave respectively but what other countries or ethnicities would you like to see explored? Diversity is a big thing for many who love Disney and I know a lot of people have opinions. I for one would like a film that looked more into the Indian culture, perhaps taking a well know Indian story and bringing it to a wider audience. The Indian culture is so diverse in itself and full with colour, stories and music and I think it would make for a cracking film! I know some people are not always happy with how the ethnic minorities have been represented but at the the end of day as much we adults love them, we need to remember that these movies are being made for children. In my mind even bringing any awareness to different cultures to children can't be a bad thing, right?

Anyway that's my two cents but what do you think? Where do you think Disney should venture next, or should they at all if they don't know them well enough? Do you feel like they represent different cultures well? Which movie featuring an ethnic princess have your preferred so far?

Aside from that, what are you guys up to this weekend?  I for one will be lounging in front of the tv tonight, laughing (and crying, no doubt) at Children in Need and Gogglebox!  Have a good one whatever you are doing, please tell me your plans!

Basically I have a lot of questions haha! So pipe up and let me know :)

Small and happy, Disney Friday! #1

Gawrsh!

I'm a massive Disney fan. I always have been and I feel like this love is only growing with age.  Throughout school, university, any bad times, Disney has always been something that has boosted me and kept me going. Now, another thing that makes me very pleased is when the weekend rolls around and I really hope you've all had a good one.  Just in case you haven't and seeing as it's Friday (and we all deserve to be happy on a Friday) I'd thought I'd share some cheery, Disney pictures to kick off our weekends, because let's face it, it's impossible to be even the tiniest bit blue when you're faced with Disney magic and smiling kiddes.  Unless you're made of stone of course, in which way, you're probably best leaving right now...(crosses fingers and hopes blog followers don't dramatically plummet).

What do you have planned for this weekend then?  Anymore Disney nuts outs there?
